Ocean Yachts Current Models
Ocean Yachts currently offers boats in three model lines. The Billfish series is the newest line which presently includes only the premier model, the 37 Billfish. It offers an Open style in a fast boat for the fisherman. The Super Sport model line is Ocean's primary flying bridge convertible line which is traced back to the company's very first model. Ocean currently offers seven models in this line from 42 to 73 feet. And the Odyssey line offers sleek motor yachts designed for luxurious cruising. This line includes 57 and a 65 Odyssey models. Ocean Yachts, along with engine manufacturers, backs all models with a five year warranty on hull and engines.
Express Models - Billfish Series
The Billfish Series is new in 2008 with the premier introduction of the 37 Billfish. One would expect other models to follow. The open design is favored by many fisherman over the flying bridge design because it enables all fisherman to be on the same level. With reduced draft this model can be fished in the bays or far out in the ocean. The dual station, flybridge setup over a solid cockpit enclosure should prove popular.
37 Billfish
The 37 Billfish was introduced in 2008 to initiate the Billfish line of open sportfishing boats. Ocean Yachts has built other Open or Express models over the years, usually calling them Sportfisherman, so this concept is not new. The idea of having the controls on the same level as the cockpit (usually up a step or two) as well as ample seating for the trip is favored by many fisherman. The 37 Billfish meets these primary requirements plus ample comforts below. Ocean has created some very interesting design features in this model. For one, the enclosure, still open at the back, is a rigid, permanent structure, like a cabin, rather than a canvas enclosure as on most express models. This provides a solid roof on which Ocean has constructed a good size flying bridge, complete with a second control station. The 37 Billfish is set in a modern Ocean Yachts hull with a sharp entry and 12.8 deg of deadrise aft reported. It is powered by twin diesels of 480-600 HP providing a cruise over 30 mph.
Flybridge Models - Super Sport Series
The Super Sport is the heart of the Ocean Yachts lineup and was the name of the first model ever produced by Ocean - the 40 Super Sport in 1977. Style and engineering have evolved, but the line continues to offer a combination of cruising and sportfishing that can be tailored to intended use, all built on a high performance hull and engine package.
42 Super Sport
The 42 Super Sport was introduced in 2006 and replaced both the 40 and 43 models. It represented the new entry level model to the Ocean lines. The hull uses Ocean Yachts latest hull designs and claims a smooth ride and speeds over 30mph with standard power. Hull deadrise is not published by Ocean, but deadrise at the transom may be smaller than some other builders boats in an effort to increase cruising speed. Ocean has been able to design separate master and guest staterooms and heads into this 42 foot boat. An L-shaped dinette is designed into one corner of the salon. Available power is twin diesel 510-720 HP.
46 Super Sport
The 46 Super Sport was introduced in 2005. This model would fill the product line between the 42 and the 50 Super Sports. This is a fast, high-powered model on a new moderate-V hull, reported to be 14 deg at the transom and quite sharp at the bow for an overall smooth ride, even in rough water. The interior includes a master, guest, and single crew staterooms, plus master and guest heads. A dinette with table and facing bench seats provides a real table for meals. Additional bridge seating is available in the "Cruise" configuration. The serious fishing gear are options allowing various configurations from cruising to dedicated fishing. Available power is twin diesel 715-825 HP.
50 Super Sport
The 50 Super Sport was introduced in 2004, replacing the earlier 52 foot model. This is a capable ocean vessel with over 6 feet of freeboard at the bow and a very sharp entry, plus over 15 deg at the stern. The interior of the 50 is very much like the 46 - except of course it was created first. It includes master, guest, and crew staterooms and both master and guest heads. The additional space on the 50 allows twin beds in the crew stateroom rather than a single. A nice dinette is included on the 50 as well. The flying bridge is large and includes the cruising seating arrangement standard. Serious fishing gear, such as outriggers, are optional here as well and allow configuration to suit the intended use. A bow thruster is an option on the 50 Super Sport. Available power is 825-1015 HP.
54 Super Sport
The 54 Super Sport was introduced in 2007. This large boat is capable of about 45 mph at full throttle with the largest available engines, which would be burning about 140 gallons per hour! But the modern Ocean Yachts hull with about 6 feet of freeboard at the bow and a sharp entry can handle both the speed and some mighty rough water. As big as it is, this model has been kept to 3ft 1in of freeboard at the stern, allowing for some fine fishing. The large flybridge has seating on both sides and at the front. The command console is a free-standing island in the center that can be walked around. Inside this model offers sleeping accomodations for 6-8 persons. Available power is twin 1015-1360 HP diesels.
58 Super Sport
The 58 Super Sport was introduced in 2007 to replace the very successful 57 Super Sport that had been out only 5 years. It allowed the addition of a customer favorite, what Ocean calls mezzanine seating, in the cockpit - a bench seat up a step or two at the forward end of the cockpit. Inside the salon was expanded, the couch was changed to a full "U" shape rather than just an "L" or half-U, creating more seating; the galley was enlarged somewhat. Changes to the lower level enabled the berths to be turned fore and aft, rather than athwartships as on the 57. This was made possible by moving the engines further back, which may also have helped the weight distribution, but it required prop pockets to be added to the hull to maintain or reduce the shaft angle, and making the draft 4 ft 4 in. The 58 was created from the hightly successful 57 hull. Available power is twin 1100-1675 HP diesels.
73 Super Sport
Introduced in 2005, the 73 Super Sport is Ocean Yachts largest boat ever. In an interesting twist, the enclosed flybridge with interior spiral staircase is standard on this model. As an option you can get an open flybridge. This model sleeps 8-10 people in four staterooms with four separate heads. The cockpit is large and well suited for fishing and can accept a fighting chair. The cockpit also includes Ocean's popular "mezzanine seating" at the forward end of the cockpit. Even as their largest model, this boat uses Ocean's typical hull with relatively minor modifications, and significant power to produce speeds over 40 mph. Range is 500-700 NM depending on power and speed. Available power is twin 1675-2000 HP diesels.
Motoryacht Models - Odyssey Series
The Odyssey Series was initiated in 2002 with the Odyssey 65 followed with the Odyssey 57. Ocean Yachts had produced a number of successful motoryachts over the years, so they knew a lot about building a great motoryacht. With the Odyssey Series, Ocean Yachts provides a comfortable cruising platform with more speed, performance, and smoothness than most motoryachts. The Odyssey design provides lots of room and comfort inside, a more protected cockpit for outside relaxation and an enclosed bridge.
57 Odyssey
The 57 Odyssey was introduced in 2003, just a year after the original 65 Odyssey. It was released simultaneous with the 57 Super Sport, using the same hull. The new 57 hull was designed to run a little flatter, to be a little faster and to handle rough seas with more comfort. It would become the basic design for other future Ocean hulls. For the 57 Odyssey it provided a comfortable cruise with more performance. The 57 incorporated features originally offered on the 65 Odyssey - an enclosed bridge with twin staircases and an aft sundeck, and a garage for a tender under the cockpit deck, accessible through the transom. The 57 Odyssey sleeps 6 in three staterooms with three heads. Available power is twin 800-1100 HP diesels.
65 Odyssey
The 65 Odyssey introduced the Odyssey Series in 2002. The 65 Odyssey was built on the same hull as the 62 Super Sport introduced the same year. The Odyssey model includes a molded-in swim platform for easy access to the water. The bridge is enclosed with internal and external stairs to the main deck. On the bridge deck, aft of the enclosed bridge is an open deck area for enjoying an up-high view of the surroundings. And, with additional engine controls, provides an excellent location for backing into a berth. Under the cockpit deck, accessible through the transom, is a garage for a tender, which is included standard! The 65 Odyssey sleeps 6-8 in 3 or 4 staterooms. Available power is twin 1015-1360 HP diesels.
